Knight of Fire — The Charge
Traditionally · Knight of Wands
Action and Decisive Movement
"Move. The thinking is finished"
The deeper meaning
The Knight of Fire is action and decisive movement, the energy that leaps once the thinking is done. In traditional tarot the Knight of Wands charges forward on a rearing horse, all passion and forward motion. In the Cocoon Method, The Charge is the card of the body that moves, that acts on its passion without endless deliberation. It is momentum embodied, the moment when you stop planning and go. The teaching honours bold, passionate action while quietly noting the risk of leaving the heart, or the ground, behind in the rush.
Upright
When the Knight of Fire appears upright, it is time to move. The thinking is finished. This is a card of action, passion in motion, the body that leaps toward what it wants. The card affirms your momentum and urges you to act with boldness and commitment. Trust the energy that wants to charge forward, and let your passion move you rather than overthinking the next step.
Reversed
Reversed, the Knight of Fire is the leap with the heart left behind. The action becomes impulsiveness, ungrounded charging, burning everything in the rush, overshooting the mark. The reversed card asks you to check whether your passion is connected to your heart and your ground, or whether it has become reactive momentum that leaves damage in its wake. Bold movement is powerful only when it carries the heart with it.
The astrology
The Knight of Fire carries the elemental signature Fire of Fire, the purest and most intense expression of the suit, fire doubled. As the Knight, this is the most active, driving form of fiery energy, passion in full motion. It is the decisive charge, the elemental will at its most concentrated and forward-moving.
The chakra
The Solar Plexus chakra (Manipura) governs drive, will, and decisive action. In the Knight of Fire, the Solar Plexus blazes, the fire that propels the body into motion. In the Cocoon Method, this is the centre of decisive forward movement. When it is strong and connected to the heart, action is bold and clean. When it acts alone, it becomes impulsive and ungrounded.
Somatic prompt
Stand and feel the energy in your body that wants to move. Take a few strong breaths into your core. Bring to mind an action you have been deliberating. Place one hand on your solar plexus and one on your heart, connecting the drive to the heart. Silently say: I can move boldly and keep my heart with me. The Knight of Fire invites you to take decisive action toward what you want, grounded and heart-connected rather than merely reactive.
