Six of Water — The Inner Child
YESSun in ScorpioSacral (Svadhisthana)

"Something young is asking for tenderness"

The deeper meaning

The Six of Water is innocence and tenderness, the return to the inner child. In traditional tarot the Six of Cups shows children in a garden, one offering flowers to another, a scene of sweetness and memory. In the Cocoon Method, The Inner Child is the card of the young part of you asking for tenderness. Something young is asking for tenderness. The teaching is about meeting your own inner child with the care it needs, about the healing held in simple joy and returning softness, while distinguishing genuine tenderness from the nostalgia that becomes a place to hide.

Upright

When the Six of Water appears upright, something young in you is asking for tenderness. This is a card of the inner child, of innocence, memory, and simple joy. The card invites you to meet the young part of yourself with care, to allow softness, to let yourself enjoy simple pleasures without cynicism. There is healing here in returning to innocence, in offering the inner child the tenderness it needs.

Reversed

Reversed, the Six of Water is living in a memory that has become a room. There is regression, nostalgia as a cage, a refusal to grow into the present because the past felt safer. The reversed card asks whether your relationship to the past is tending the inner child or hiding in it. Tenderness toward what was young in you is healing. Living inside the memory keeps you from the present where real life is.

The astrology

The Six of Water is Sun in Scorpio, the radiant Sun in the deep, feeling waters of Scorpio. The Sun brings warmth and the light of selfhood, Scorpio brings emotional depth and the encounter with what is hidden. Together they form the decan where light reaches into the depths, where the warmth of tenderness meets the inner child held in the deeper waters of memory and feeling.

The chakra

The Six of Water moves to the Sacral chakra (Svadhisthana), the centre of feeling, innocence, and the playful, tender life of the inner child. Here the water becomes soft and young, the feeling life of the child within. In the Cocoon Method, the Sacral is where the inner child is met and tended. When it is open, simple joy and tenderness flow. When it is wounded, the child either hides in the past or goes unmet.

Somatic prompt

Bring to mind yourself as a young child. Place a hand low on your belly and one on your heart. Breathe gently and imagine offering that young one the tenderness it needed. Silently say to the inner child: I see you, and you are safe with me now. Notice what softens in your body. The Six of Water invites you to meet the young part of you with care, and to let a little simple, present-day joy in rather than living inside the memory.
