Six of Earth
Six of Pentacles · The Giving
Generosity and the Two-Way Current

"True generosity flows both ways"
The deeper meaning
The Six of Earth is the giving, the two-way current of generosity that flows in both directions. In traditional tarot the Six of Pentacles shows a figure with scales distributing coins to those in need, an image of charity that also raises questions of power and balance. In the Cocoon Method, The Giving is the card of generosity and the recognition that true giving flows both ways. This is abundance shared, but it is also an inquiry into the dynamics of giving and receiving, the difference between generosity that uplifts and giving that holds power over. The card celebrates the open-handed current of real generosity while asking you to notice whether you can receive as freely as you give.
Upright
When the Six of Earth appears upright, generosity is flowing, and the card celebrates the two-way current of true giving. This is sharing abundance, helping without superiority, the healthy circulation of resources and care. The card invites you to give freely where you can and, just as importantly, to receive freely where it is offered. True generosity is a current, not a one-way street, and the card asks you to let it flow in both directions.

Reversed
Reversed, the Six of Earth is giving with strings dressed as gifts. Generosity has become a way to hold power over others, or you find yourself unable to receive, only ever giving. The reversed card asks you to notice the hidden conditions in your giving, or the pride that refuses to receive. It invites you to restore the honest two-way current, to give without control and to let yourself accept what others offer.

The astrology
The Six of Earth is Moon in Taurus, the nurturing Moon meeting the resourceful, embodied earth of Taurus, traditionally the Moon\'s exaltation. The Moon brings care and the instinct to nourish, while Taurus relates to material resources and the body. Together they form the decan\'s signature, the generous, nurturing flow of giving and receiving, the comfortable abundance that wants to share its resources and care.
The chakra
The Heart chakra (Anahata) governs generosity, compassion, and the balanced flow of giving and receiving. In the Six of Earth, the Heart is where the two-way current lives, the open-handed circulation of care. In the Cocoon Method, this is the centre that gives without superiority and receives without shame. When the Heart is open, generosity flows both ways. When it closes, giving becomes power or receiving becomes impossible.
Somatic prompt
Place both hands over your heart, then turn them outward in a gesture of giving, then cup them to receive. Breathe and feel the current moving in both directions. Bring to mind your own patterns: do you give more easily than you receive? Silently say: I let generosity flow both ways. The Six of Earth invites you to practise both open-handed giving and open-hearted receiving today.
